The final method is to use a blender to create a granular powder from the peels. You would then mix this powder into your soil.

When banana peels get used as fertilizer for your plant, it can take up to two years for them to get completely broken down into the soil.

Liquid banana peel fertilizer will provide some water-soluble nutrients to your plants immediately. But the nutritional contents contained within it are minimal.

The average NPK value for dried banana skin is going to be around 0.6-0.4-11.5. If you are using fresh banana peels, the NPK value is going to be about 1/5.

So the NPK value of a wet banana peel will be approximately 0.1-0.1-2.3.

How to make banana peel fertilizer water

Method one: liquid banana peel fertilizer

One thing you have to watch for when making banana peel liquid fertilizer is for black mold.

If you notice black mold starts collecting and has the jar has a foul odor, you should not use the liquid on your plants.

Supplies:

• 1) Banana peels
• 2) Glass jar with lid
• 3) Water

Instructions:

Step one: Take your banana peels and place them in the jar. Try to fill the jar, so it is about 80 to 90 percent full.

Step two: Fill the jar up now with water and close the lid.

Step three:

Let banana peels soak for at least one week.

Once they have got soaked for at least one week, remove the peels.

(optional) Strain your water solution through something like a cheesecloth or some other cotton fabric to prevent organic pieces of the banana from ending up in the final solution.

Now take the banana peels and add them to your compost, or you can reuse them using another method below!

Step four: Use the fertilizer by mixing 1 to 5 with water. So if you had 1 cup of banana fertilizer, you would mix it with 5 cups of water.

Now water the base of your plants. It may take a week or two to start seeing results.

It's also important to understand that making liquid banana fertilizer will only really contain potassium. All of the other nutrients still stay locked inside the banana peel until it gets composted.

Step three: Take the dried banana peels and work them into the plant's soil you are trying to fertilize. You need to be careful and get the peels as close to your plant's roots as possible.

Method Three: powdered banana peel fertilizer

Supplies:

• 1) Banana peels
• 2) Scissors or knife
• 3) Food processor, coffee grinder, or blender
• 4) Optional: 3 to 5 eggshells, Epsom salt, and spray bottle

Instructions:

Step one: Use your scissors or knife and cut up the peels into small squares. The squares should be an inch wide or smaller.

Step two: Now, we need to dry the banana peels. You can lay them on paper or a towel out directly in the sun. Another option is to put your oven at a low temperature with the door slightly open.

Step three: Now, you need to grind the banana peel up using a food processor, coffee grinder, or blender. Keep grinding until you turn the dried peel into a powder.

Step four: Take your banana powder and mix it up into your soil.

Optional:

Save the shells from 3 to 5 eggs and grind the eggshells into a fine powder.

Add four tablespoons of the banana peel powder you have already made and add one tablespoon Epsom salt.

Place the mixture you created from step 2 and place it into the bottom of the spray bottle.

Add water to the spray bottle, fill it up to near the top with water, and put it on the top of the bottle.

Shake the bottle up until the powder and Epsom salt added get dissolved.

Spray this mixture at the base of your plants.
